The “Learning Spaces Working Group”, in collaboration with various departments at the University, develops and evaluates new learning spaces in order to gain insight into innovative learning environments and identify areas for improvement. In all projects, particular emphasis is placed on user participation in the design process.
Current members:
The 'Student Panel' regularly discusses questions, ongoing projects and planned pilot projects in the field of educational technologies and educational spaces and media. The Panel also occasionally discusses topics from other university administration departments and LearnTechNet partners, such as IT Services and the University Library. Topics relevant to learning spaces are frequently discussed. The panel also frequently addresses the integration of digital technologies, and more generally, studying in the context of digital transformation.
To ensure the widest possible representation of Basel students, there are bachelor's and master's students from all faculties. Due to the wide variety of subjects they offer, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities and History each have two representatives. The panel was established in collaboration with the student union skuba, which is also always represented on the panel.

To involve faculty more closely in discussions about long-term campus development, the recipients of the Basel Teaching Excellence Award will participate in focus group interviews for the first time in summer 2026. These interviews will focus on the evolution of teaching formats and the resulting demands on spaces and the campus as a whole. The discussions will look beyond upcoming short-term projects and include representatives from Educational Technology, Student Services, and Real Estate Portfolio Management. The results of these discussions will inform spatial development.
Lecturers are also regularly involved in space development on a project-by-project basis through other formats. Additionally, interested parties can contact the Educational Technology team at any time with feedback, requests, and suggestions. Feel free to reach out via email at Lernraeume@clutterunibas.ch.
